However, through the Libertarian lens, this legislation is a massive expansion of state power, central planning, and a direct assault on the freedom of association.

This bill isn’t just about “securing the border”; it represents a move toward a high-tech police state. By mandating nationwide E-Verify and increasing federal surveillance, the government is essentially demanding that every private business act as an unpaid agent of the Department of Homeland Security. Libertarians believe that the right to hire, work, and trade is fundamental. Forcing a small business owner to seek federal permission before hiring a willing worker is an affront to economic liberty.
